Do you
have what it takes to transition into a Partner's role?
If so,
our client wants to meet you!
This firm is presently
a 2-partner operation, with six staff, and the senior
partner is approaching 60 years of age. The second partner
is significantly younger, and carries the burden of
reviewing all the files, ensuring proper quality control
procedures are met, handling a large client base and
being generally responsible for the day-to-day operation
of the practice.
The the senior
partner looking to take his foot off the gas in the
next few years, and this presents a genuine partnership
opportunity for the right person within a 1 to 5 year
timeframe.
If you are a CA who loves
dealing with owner-managed business clients, who has
a good working knowledge of Canadian tax issues (so
you can talk intelligently about owner compensation
issues such as salary -vs- bonus -vs dividend and the
related tax issues arising, for example) and have excellent
communication skills, then this could be an excellent
career move for you.
Ideally you will have spent
some time in a small practice environment and appreciate
the importance of 'fit' when it comes to culture, work
habits and 'getting along with people', and seek a career
move where your client service focus and timely delivery
of reports for clients will be appreciated and rewarded.
We need a genuine self-starter,
who is not afraid to 'push-back' (with either clients
or partners) in a polished and professional manner,
who will see this opportunity to make your mark in a
small firm who give their people the opportunity to
manage their own workload and time lines.
Translate that into being
given responsibility for managing the needs of clients
and working that into your own way of doing things -
whether that means working 8 to 4, 9 to 5, 10 to 6 or
whatever works best for you.
The culture within
this firm is easy-going, where you are allowed the freedom
to manage your workload as you see best. If your clients'
needs are being well looked after, then so will you.
A genuine work/life balance situation has been created,
where little overtime during tax season and no weekend
work is the 'norm'.
This position is open to
anyone who attained their CA designation in 2005 or
earlier, in either the small business team of a larger
firm, or more likely, in a small practice where you
have to 'do a little of everything' and are not frightened
of the odd 'cardboard box' job that will come across
your desk from time to time.
A 'can-do' attitude will
take you a long way with this firm.
There will be plenty of
oportunity to work along side the two partners and learn
from them, and should you be able to take on more responsibility
sooner rather than later, then you will be rewarded
with a more interesting and varied workload.
As this is a real partnership
track role, it is only open to Canadian CAs, so if you
have what it takes, drop us a line with your resume
and let's see how far you can take this.
