The
Opportunity
Staff
Accountant/Senior Accountant
Our client, a well established firm in the Barrie area, is looking
for someone with personality, great communication skills, and
a flair for dealing with people. Oh, and by the way, you’ll
have some public accounting experience too!
Ideally you’ll be either a newly qualified CA or CGA, or
an experienced technician working towards earning a designation,
who can hit the ground running and manage a number of client files
with minimum supervision. You enjoy and have an aptitude for tax
planning and analysis vs. audit assignments as this is the focus
in this firm.
You will be in public accounting right now, but probably not given
enough responsibility, or maybe your firm doesn’t offer
a decent work/life balance or maybe there’s something else
at your existing firm that’s standing in the way of where
you are right now and where you want to be in the future.
My client is looking for someone who is bright, a quick learner,
ambitious and keen to make a difference to the small business
owners that they serve.
Working directly with owner-managed clients, you’ll be exposed
to a wide range of businesses and industries. You’ll be
in direct contact with clients, and, from time to time, supervise
a small team on bigger jobs.
Reporting directly to the Partner, you’ll learn a wide range
of new skills, both technical and ‘soft’ skills’
– such as business development, client management, how to
spot value-billing opportunities and business development techniques,
which will make you a more rounded professional over time.
You will be able to take a client’s set of accounting records,
turn them into a ‘Notice to Reader’ in short order,
format the statements in Caseware, and prepare the tax returns
(both corporate and personal) to draft format in Taxprep for review
by the partner, with a list of queries and sensible planning points
based on a sensible review of the file and a comparison to the
previous year’s results.
My client is offering an attractive compensation package for the
right candidate, with an opportunity to progress according to
your abilities.
If this sounds like an opportunity and environment you’d
thrive in, drop me a line at smcintyre-smith@cogeco.ca with your
resume or call me at 905-842-2284 and let’s get moving.
Please send your resume with cover letter by email to steve@mfagroup.com.
